VEGAN MORPHE BRUSHES // REVIEW
Remember when you were little and used to have one of those glittery, sticky makeup palettes with a foam eyeshadow brush which doubled as a lip brush?! God they were awful! But, not anymoreeeeeeee! For AGESSSSS I've wanted a cruelty-free brush set, then I found the Morphe Brush Set 697 15 Piece Vegan Pro Set. When I stumbled across a cruelty-free AND vegan brush set, my mind f**king blew upppppppp all over my laptop screen!
LOOK HOW PRETTY THEY AREEEEEE (yes, you will have to scroll up a little, sorry xox.) Just from the appearance of the luxurious Japanese synthetic bristles, they look organic, simplistic and not like they're caked in dye and chemicals like some makeup brushes can do... From first impressions, they are sooOooo soft! I kept rubbing them across my face, and many other peoples faces... lol. They come in a beautiful faux leather case which can be rolled up and is portable, just for on those days when you need a little makeup top-up seshhhh!
Now, I will admit they are a little pricey, £39.95 to be exact (www.beautybay.com), but I strongly agree that you might have to spend a little dollar to get a really, really good makeup brush set that wont stain, fall apart or go rough after a couple of weeks... which these 1000000% do not (they are bae.) Looking back, I don't actually think £39.95 is that bad for 15 pieces of pro makeup brushes, I think thats a cheeky little bargain to be in fact!
DISCLAIMER: I'm not a makeup artist, I'm just really passionate about cruelty-free and vegan makeup and beauty. I try to use each brush for their intended purpose, but sometimes I used a different brush for a different purpose, just suits me better I guess.
1: S13 - DELUXE ANGLE BRUSH
I used this one for my bronzer, it works wonders for conturing and sculpting cheekbones, but is also feathered enough to blend my makeup evenly without leaving any harsh lines.
2: S3 - DELUXE MEDIUM FOUNDATION
This one I primarily use for concealer, mostly when I'm tidying up my eyebrows. I used to use it a lot around my under eye and areas I would primarily try and highlight, but I found it left some streaks on my skin so I switched to a beauty blender to do this. Yet, when shaping my eyebrows and hiding any mistakes this bad boy works a treat!
3: S94 - MINI BUFFER/CONTOUR
This little beauty is for my foundation. You would think because it is so compact with bristles and rather flat and heavy that it would cake the foundation to your skin, this is what I thought first time round anyway, but it really, really doesn't. It works so well as a buffer to give a really even coverage and get into all those nooks and crannies creating a flawless finish.
4: S15 - DELUXE TAPERED POWDER
OBVIOUSLY I know this is a powder brush, but I don't have a highlighter brush so this has now volunteered as tribute. As a highlighter brush, it works so well on cheekbones, not so much on the bridge or end of my nose, cupids bow or under the arch of my eyebrows because the brush is simply too big.
I also used this powder brush for its main purpose as well when I need my baking/finishing powder to be brushed off and for this it works incredibly, the brush is so big it just comes off in one swoosh!
1: S8 - DELUXE DETAIL EYELINER BRUSH
HANDS DOWN MY FAVOURITE BRUSH (I'm a bit of an eyeliner addict...) I used to own a NANSHY brush set but their eyeliner brush just frayed and completely list its fine shape, however with the MORPHE eyeliner brush its so precise I can make small, sharp flicks so easily! 10/10 eyeliner brush for me.
2: S12 - DELUXE CREASE BRUSH
Huge fan of this brush as well, I use this a lot for eyeshadow application and use a larger brush to blend it out. As a crease brush its incredible, its just small enough not to completely ruin all your hard eyeshadow work but fanned enough to create soft creases!
3: S26 - ANGLE BLENDER
I use this brush for both applying an eyeshadow base to my lid as well as a blending brush before I add any detail to my eye. I bloody love this brush, its so multi-purpose that you can really rely on it for anything.
4: S30 - CHISEL SHADOW
I LOVE THIS BRUSH! I've been trying to learn how to create crease cuts recently and this brush is just sent from the heavens! It's so flat and small I can use it to apply foundation/concealer to my lid as a base with so much precision, I can use it to apply a pennnnng shimmer shadow to my lid without blending it out, I can use it to apply a light shadow near my tear duct and brow arch to brighten my eyes. Literally, this brush is my heroooooooo!
5: S11 - DELUXE OVAL SHADOW
I don't use this brush often, primarily when I have some harsh lines which need some serious blending out and softening. It's such a large, wide brush that sometimes I get scared to use it incase it messes up any other eye makeup I have done, but thats deffo just me being a muppet haha
6: S21 - DELUXE BLENDING FLUFF
(There seems to be a lot of blending brushes in this set... how have I only just realised this?! Another thing I've realised is I hardly use any of these brushes for their intended purpose loooool... ANYWAAAAAAY)
I don't really use this brush for blending, I use it for applying highlighter to my brow arch because it's flat enough to apply with precision as well as being fluffy enough to blend it out so it isn't so harsh
7: S28 - CHISEL SHADER
This brush isn't really meant for under eye, mainly for detail on the lid, but because it is so flat and wide it works so well in applying eyeshadow under my lower lash line to add some definition and then it is blended with a wider brush.
8: S20 - DELUXE PRECISION CREASE
I use this brush to add detail to the outer corner of my eye to add some definition and shadow. The brush is so compact and heavy that it is very good for detail, but because I primarily use this brush with a dark shadow, its hard to blend out, which is where I need an actual blending brush to help.
9: S27 - DELUXE BLENDING CREASE
AGAIN, another blending brush haha! I use this brush the same as I do for the S26 ANGLE BLENDER. Primarily to start off the base of my eye with an all over shadow, and then for blending shadows which are applied over the top.
10: S4 - DELUXE OVAL CONCEALER
I used to use this brush to apply light shadows to my brow arch or a shimmer shadow to my eyelid, but then I found better brushes which work with much more precision to do these jobs.
This brush should probably now be in the 'FACE BRUSH' part (but oh well lol) as I now use it to apply and blend my colour correction to my under eye which it works soooooooOoooo well at. The flat head means I can apply it everywhere without it messing up any current makeup I have on!
(Yes this one had to get its own private section - so much love to share about it.)
S25 - A DUAL ENDED ANGLED BRUSH WITH A SPOOLIE END
LOOK AT IT!! LOOOOOOK AT ITTTTT! HOW BEAUTIFULLLLLLL!
Since I got this bad boy my brows have been like on fleeeeeeeek (sorry lol). The angled brush is so thin that I can make accurate and precise lines to outline my brow as well as shading my brow in without it being thick and heavy!
I brush my brows first before outlining them, which the spoolie end is perfect for, really helps to create the initial shape. After I've filled in my brows, the spoolie is super helpful for thinning out the hairs and blending the brow so it does not look unnatural. Its perfect for creating a fade at the start of the brow as well. This brush is just like my definition of bae, who needs boys!
